Troopers say beware of Alabama concert ticket scam; concert at state capitol is free

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police released the following statement late Friday afternoon just a few hours before the Alabama concert at the state capitol:

The West Virginia State Police has been made aware of social media posts in which individuals are attempting to sell tickets to this evening’s performance at the State Capital Complex by the country music group Alabama.

As a reminder, with the exception of the Charleston Light Opera Guild’s performance of 1776 at the Culture Center, all concerts are free for the public to attend.

The concert is part of the state’s America 250 celebration. West Virginia native Philip Bowen will open at 6:30 p.m. with Alabama taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.
