K9 Luna helps in Beckley drug arrest, man found with array of drugs and guns

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A K9 is credited with helping in a drug arrest.

The Beckley Police Department said Officer Drew Amick pulled over a Land Rover SUV early Sunday morning in the Springdale Avenue area because of an expired registration. The officer deployed the K9 Luna after talking with the driver and passengers of the SUV, and Luna discovered there were narcotics in the vehicle.

Jaylon Breckenridge, 30, was arrested for possession of an array of drugs and firearms. Breckenridge was in the backseat of the car, according to the Beckley PD.

He was reportedly in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, powdered and crack cocaine, fentanyl, MDMA, and oxycodone and Dextroamphetamine pills. Breckenridge was also discovered with two handguns and over $3,000.

Breckenridge was charged with several counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

Breckenridge is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $75,000 surety/cash bail.
