Entire Barrackville Police Department relieved of duties

BARRACKVILLE, W.Va. — In a post on social media the town of Barrackville has announced the entire police department has been relieved of duty.

The action was taken by the mayor and city council, according to the statement.

Members of the department released the following statement:

“We are sincerely grateful for the support, trust, and encouragement shown to us by the Barrackville community, throughout our service. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve and protect this town. We thank the citizens of Barrackville for allowing us the opportunity to serve, and we wish the community continued safety and the very best in the future.”

No other information has been released.

Town officials have not been available for comment.
