MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Health System has announced plans to support preventative health care and strengthening programs that assist uninsured residents.

WVU Medicine President and CEO Albert Wright is scheduled to present a $9 million contribution to the Monongalia County Commission at commission’s Tuesday morning meeting “to expand preventive health services and strengthen community health programs that serve uninsured, Medicaid-enrolled, and other vulnerable residents in the county.”

Wright said the funds will be directed to evidence-based public health initiatives administered through the Monongalia County Health Department and other programs.

The Monongalia County Commission meets Tuesday morning beginning at 10 o’clock in downtown Morgantown.
