NITRO, W.Va. — A Kanawha County couple has been arrested for allegedly keeping three young children in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said Seth Lockhart, 28, and Aryanna Evans, 26, were arrested Friday at their home on Red Oak Drive in Nitro. Deputies responded to the scene after a report that a male had been cut on his forearm.
Deputies said the residence was a scary sight. They reported that mud, trash, debris, dog feces, and broken glass filled the home. When deputies investigated the bedroom, they found two small children asleep along with dog food, cockroaches, and two dogs underneath a bed. Additionally, the home reportedly had no running water and the front and back doors were unsecured.

A third child was walking through the home barefoot and was quite dirty, deputies said. That led deputies to believe that the child hadn’t been bathed for a long time.
Even more concerning, deputies said drugs, guns, and ammunition were spread throughout the residence, easy for the children to access.
Lockhart and Evans have been charged with felony offense child neglect creating risk of injury.
The three children have been removed from the home and are now in Child Protective Services custody.
