Marshall’s basketball programs now know what the conference schedules for their respective upcoming seasons look like.
The Sun Belt has released the 18-game conference slates for men’s and women’s basketball, and both Marshall teams will open at home on the same day.
The Marshall men host Old Dominion on December 16 at the Cam Henderson Center when both schools begin Sun Belt play. Marshall’s women will also play that same day at the Henderson Center against Appalachian State.
Marshall’s men play three of thei first four Sun Belt games at home. The lone road game is December 19 at Louisiana and is followed by home games with South Alabama on New Year’s Eve and Arkansas State on January 2.
Marshall spends much of January on the road with five away contests over a six-game stretch, only broken up by a January 16 home contest with Georgia Southern.
The Herd men play five home games and three away games to wrap up the regular season with the finale at home on Friday, February 26 against last year’s Sun Belt champion Troy.
The Marshall women’s team has released its full schedule.
“The anticipation for this season continues to build, and we couldn’t be more excited to tip things off,” Herd head coach Juli Fulks said. “Our non-conference schedule features outstanding competition that will push us and prepare us for Sun Belt play. We’re ready for the challenge, and we know Herd Nation will make the Cam one of the toughest places to play all season.”
Fulks’ team will play at home 19 times next season, including a pair of October exhibition games against the University of Pikeville and Kentucky Christian.
The season opener will be played at Massachusetts in the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Challenge.
The Herd will host a MAC opponent yet to be determined on February 6.
Marshall plays three home games over seven days in early November, hosting North Carolina A&T on November 6, Howard on November 10 and Division II West Virginia State on November 12.
Road trips follow to Duke on November 15, Wright State on November 18 and Kentucky on November 20.
Marshall’s final non-conference contests are trips to Tennessee Tech and Kent State along home games against D-II Davis&Elkins, Ohio and Harvard.
Marshall’s Sun Belt schedule is challenging early with four road games among the first five contests. That stretch is followed by four consecutive league home games in mid-January against Louisiana Tech, Louisiana, Georgia State and James Madison.
Another four-game road trip follows to end January, but the slate eases in February with five home games.
The 2027 Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will run from March 2-8 at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla.
