Expectations are elevated at Logan after an 8-win season

LOGAN, W.Va. — The first season for Nick Booth as Logan’s head coach was one that saw the Wildcats post their most victories since 2011 while qualifying for the playoffs for the second time in the last 13 years. Logan went 8-3 with all of their losses coming against teams that won at least one playoff game.

“It was really fun. In my freshman season, we went 2-8. It is definitely a big jump to 8-3,” said Logan junior tight end Lucas Lambert. “Losing to Doddridge, that was pretty tough.”

The Wildcats featured a pass-heavy offensive attack in 2025 with senior quarterback Adam Baisden passing for nearly 2,000 yards with 23 touchdowns. Logan’s top target is junior Lucas Lambert. The multi-sport athlete is receiving heavy recruiting interest at the power conference level after a sophomore season where he caught 34 passes for 715 yards and a dozen touchdowns. He also rushed for five more scores.

“When people get a look at him, they will see the work he has put in in the weight room and what he has done,” said Logan head coach Nick Booth. “He has been to every camp up and down the east coast. Offers are coming in left and right for him. His parents, they will at the drop of a hat, hey we are going to this camp. They’ll load up and take him. They have really done things the right way.”

“I have been in the weight room almost three days a week,” Lambert said. “I have been playing pickup basketball just to stay in condition.”

Logan’s second-leading receiver Zo Murphy returns as well. He caught 28 passes for 599 yards.

“It will be a mix. Zo Murphy is back. Caleb Johnson, Greg Williams is here and Jake Endicott,” Booth said. “Those are guys on the offensive side of the ball. Then there’s Bentley Williamson and the defensive side of the ball and Easton Craddock.”

On the line, All-State selection Rob Ball has graduated but many younger linemen are ready to take on increased roles.

“We’ve got a lot of young guys that played a lot of snaps last year,” Booth said. “We had a lot of sophomores and some freshmen that mixed with our seniors. That’s really what you want.”

As Booth enters his second season guiding the Wildcats, the goals for the team are clear, to bring postseason football to LHS.

“We’re definitely trying to win a playoff game,” Lambert said. “I definitely want to get to host a home game, a playoff game, or just get a win for a playoff game.”

“We came up short of our goal. We are still looking for that first playoff win,” Booth said. “We think we are on the right path. Anytime you win eight football games, you have done something right. We’re looking to build on that this year. If we get there, hopefully we get over the hump and we can grab that first one and move forward.”
