HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Fans of Marshall men’s basketball will have plenty of opportunities to see their favorite team in the upcoming season.
Marshall released its full schedule Tuesday, and including a pair of exhibitions, it features 20 contests at home in addition to games against national powers, regional rivals and a few smaller schools.
“We’re really excited about this season’s schedule and what it means for our program,” third-year head coach Cornelius Jackson said. “We’ve put together a tough slate that will challenge us from the very beginning, with great opportunities to compete against some of the best teams in college basketball both home and away. We’re looking forward to the challenge, the experiences we’ll create along the way, and representing Marshall at a high level all season long!”
The Thundering Herd finished 19-13 in 2025-26, including 11-7 in the Sun Belt Conference for a second-place regular season finish.
In 2026-27, the Herd will start the season with a pair of home exhibition games against West Virginia Wesleyan on October 22 and against an opponent yet to be named on October 28.
Marshall opens the regular season at home on November 2 by hosting Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference/Sun Belt Challenge. Five days later, Marshall hosts another MAC team in Toledo.
On November 9, Marshall makes the short trip north to Columbus for a contest at Ohio State. Marshall will also play in Ohio on November 14 at Youngstown State.
East Tennessee State, an old rival from the Southern Conference, comes to Huntington on November 17, followed by a visit from the Herd to national power North Carolina on November 20.
After facing the Tar Heels, Marshall hosts six straight games — starting with Prairie View A&M on November 25. That’s followed by games against East Texas A&M on November 28, UNC Wilmington on December 2, Bethune-Cookman on December 5, Kentucky Christian of the NAIA level on December 12 and the Sun Belt opener against Old Dominion on December 16th.
Marshall will play three of its first four conference games at home, including a New Year’s Eve contest against South Alabama.
The Herd will wrap-up non-conference play by hosting WVU Tech on December 23 and playing a road game in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge on February 6, with that opponent to be announced later.
Marshall concludes its regular season Friday, February 26 by hosting defending Sun Belt champion Troy.
