BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — State Senator Ben Queen has been appointed to serve on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s newly revitalized Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC).

The LGAC is made up of state and local officials that work to advance the agency’s mission of protecting the environment.
Queen, R-Harrison, is one of 13 new appointments to the 22-member national committee, which represents a broad range of communities across the country.
“Cooperative federalism is at the core of the Trump EPA, and we are proud to work with our state and local governments that are most closely connected to their communities’ environmental issues,” EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said. “Revitalizing the Local Government Advisory Committee ensures we are operating in lock step to protect human health and the environment.”
The committee is scheduled to begin its new charter with a discussion on the challenges local governments face when considering the development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and data centers.
More information about the council will released during a September Zoom meeting.
