Tucker County educator accused of inappropriate relationship with student

HAMBELTON, W.Va. — A teacher at Tucker County High School is charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Tucker County Superintendent of Schools Alicia Lambert contacted the West Virginia State Police after receiving a tip from Tucker County High School Principal Alex Cork on September 4 that Haden Wamsley, 22, of Hambleton, was involved with the student.

Wamsley and the student denied the allegations. Wamsley allegedly told investigators he had only hugged the student.

The student reportedly told a guidance counselor that she and Wamsley had “made out” a couple of times.

The student reportedly told the counselor she was upset because Wamsley had blocked her on social media.

Officials also made a referral to Child Protective Services.

Wamsley has been charged with sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and sexual contact against students by school employees. He is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
