Huntington Man Convicted of Second-Degree Murder in Fatal 2025 Seventh Avenue Shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —A Cabell County jury has found a Huntington man guilty of second-degree murder and firearms violations for a shooting that killed a man last year on Seventh Avenue.
Amar Abdu Richardson, 23, was convicted of second-degree murder, use or presentment of a firearm, and person prohibited from possession of a firearm.
Authorities accused Richardson of shooting and killing 33-year-old Rahmel Lundy, also of Huntington, on March 20 around 7:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue.
Richardson was originally charged with first-degree murder after Huntington police officers and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested him in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue on the Monday following the shooting.
Following the arrest, Huntington Mayor Patrick Farrell commended the swift work of the responding agencies.
“Their efforts send a clear message: if you commit violence in our city, you will be held accountable,” Farrell said in a statement at the time. “As this investigation continues, so does our commitment to public safety because keeping our neighborhoods safe will always be job number one.”
