GRAFTON, W.Va. — The father of an 11-year old girl who died of alleged abuse has agreed to plead guilty in connection with his role in the case.
Aaron Moran, 42, of Grafton, entered a guilty plea to death of a child by parent, guardian or custodian Tuesday morning in Taylor County Circuit Court.
Moran will serve at least 15 years before being eligible for parole, Taylor County Prosecutor John Bord said. The sentence for death of a child is 15 years to life.
In February 2025, 11-year-old Miana Moran died after she was found unresponsive, not breathing, weighing just 43 pounds, and wearing disposable diapers under the care of Shannon Robinson.
Robinson was charged in January with child neglect by a parent or guardian resulting in death. She awaits trial on the charges.
Robinson was the primary caregiver for the girl at the time of her death, authorities said.
Moran entered a plea agreement under a prosecutor’s information. He admitted he knew Robinson was abusing his daughter. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Moran agrees to testify against Robinson.
Moran was originally charged with murder of a child and child neglect resulting in death. No sentencing date has been set.
