Two-vehicle crash claims life in Putnam County

PLINY, W.Va. — A woman is dead after a Friday morning collision on U.S. Route 35 in Putnam County.

Sheriff Bobby Eggleton identified the woman as Sherry Wears, 61, of Plantation Road, in Putnam County.  She pulled into oncoming traffic from Plantation Road near Pliny and was struck by another vehicle.

Wears was pronounced  dead at the scene.

Investigators said fog was a contributing factor in the 5:30 a.m. accident.
