CHARLESTON, W.Va. — It’s expected to be a busy Labor Day weekend on the West Virginia Turnpike.
West Virginia Parkways Authority officials said they anticipate around 420,500 toll booth transactions over the four-day holiday weekend from Friday through Monday.
The busiest day on the highway is anticipated to be Friday, with officials expecting 141,000 transactions on that day alone. On Monday, officials say they anticipate around 107,000 transactions.
The authority suggested Saturday and Sunday as the ideal travel days for motorists, so as to avoid the “peak” travel times. Alternatively, the authority proposed taking trips on “lower-volume” weekends rather than the always-busy Labor Day weekend.
