POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Residents in Mason County are continuing to clean-up after a couple of flood-related events last week.

There’s been some help provided to residents.
The Mason County Commission provided some drop-off areas for flood-debris near the Mason County Fairgrounds and workers at the Monarch Compute Campus north of Point Pleasant, operated by Nscale, have been working with a local church to meet needs.
Nscale Site Manager Jason Bechtle said nearly 80 workers have lent a helping hand after Grace Baptist Church took the initial calls for assistance.
“We were out there cleaning up some of the remaining water that was there and hauling away debris,” Bechtle said.
Crews were also able to deliver flood clean-up supplies, Bechtle said.
“We were taking some of those supply buckets out to those affected. That included cleaning supplies and some other things to help with the clean-up,” he said.
Workers helped residents in Point Pleasant, Mason, New Haven, West Columbia and Letart.
“This severe weather was kind of historic in terms of 500 and 1,000 years flood,” Bechtle said. “We’re glad that we can roll-up our sleeves and lend a helping hand to our neighbors here in Mason County.
Nscale is building its Monarch Compute Campus to house data centers. There are currently about 900 construction workers at the site. The site itself has had some runoff problems with the heavy rains this summer. Nscale has cleaned up some residential properties more than once impacted by the runoff. Some residents have opted to participate in a property buyout program.
