MORRISVALE, W.Va. — Swiftwater rescues are taking place in parts of Boone County after heavy rain that began Wednesday morning and continued into Wednesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service continues to have part of the area under a flash flood warning until 5:30 p.m.
NWS said radar at 2:04 indicated that as much as five inches of rain had fallen in northwestern Boone County and parts of Lincoln County.
The Charleston Fire Department swiftwater rescue team was called in to help with some possible evacuations of residences in the Morrisvale area of Boone County.
The National Weather Service also has flash flood warnings issued for parts of Wayne, Roane, Calhoun and Gilmer counties through early evening.
