WVU football commit Chris Wilson shot and killed

Yorktown High School (Ind.) football star and West Virginia University commit Chris Wilson was shot and killed Monday morning in nearby Muncie. 

According to reports, Muncie Police were called just before 3 a.m. to the 1400 block of E. Cromer Avenue and discovered Wilson had been shot multiple times inside a vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A defensive end who committed to the Mountaineers in June, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Wilson was set to graduate high school next year.

Yorktown High School principal Stacey Brewer issued the following statement to Yorktown students and parents on Monday:

“With great sadness, I share that Chris Wilson, a senior at Yorktown High School, died tragically early this morning. His family has given us permission to share this news. Chris was a valued member of our school, our football team, and our community. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and teammates. Muncie Police are leading the investigation, and Yorktown Police have confirmed there is no threat to our students or schools. Your student may hear this news over break. Please check in with them, listen, and let us know if they need support. Our counselors will be available when school resumes. If your student needs immediate help, call or text 988. Please keep Chris’ family in your hearts.”
