I-79 traffic snarled southbound in Harrison County following Mountaineer game

SALTWELL ROAD, W.Va. — A wreck Saturday afternoon on Interstate 79 south in Harrison County backed up traffic for several miles.

Much of the traffic was WVU football game postgame traffic.

The wreck took place at around 4 p.m. a half-mile before the Saltwell Road/Shinnston exit.

Both lanes were blocked by the crash. Southbound traffic was backed up in the fast lane.

There was no early word on injuries or what caused the crash.
