CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man wanted in connection with a shooting on Charleston’s West Side last weekend is in custody in North Carolina.

Charleston Police Sgt. Travis Bailes said Vasilis Sakellaridis was arrested by U.S. Marshal’s Friday in Forsyth County.
Bailes said CPD thought Sakellaridis, 45, may be heading out of state because he apparently has no ties to Charleston.
“We enlisted the help of the Marshal Service and they do great work. They tracked him down,” Bailes said.
Sakellaridis is charged with malicious wounding. It’s alleged he shot a person multiple times in the area of Temple Street and Clay Avenue last Saturday night. The victim’s injuries were considered non life-threatening.
Police released a photos Thursday of Sakellaridis and a van with Oregon plates they believed he was driving. Bailes said the release and surveillance video have helped in the investigation.
“Anytime we are able to track down actual known images it’s invaluable,” he said. “Our public is usually our greatest asset and when we put this information out to the public we usually get what we need.”
Bailes said there’s more to do on the investigation.
“Our detectives are still working to gather facts and put it all together. I believe they are heading down there now to do a follow-up investigation. Hopefully, we’ll have some answers soon,” Bailes said.
Sakellaridis is being held in the Forsyth County jail awaiting extradition.
