WVU Police execute search warrants at 2 frat houses in connection with hazing investigation

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The WVU Police Department has an ongoing investigation into allegations of hazing at two WVU fraternities in Morgantown.

Officers with WVU Police executed search warrants Monday night at both the Lambda Chi Apha fraternity house on North High Street and the Pi Kappa Alpha house on Belmar Ave.

“West Virginia University takes seriously the safety and well-being of our students,” WVU spokesperson Shauna Johnson said in a Tuesday morning statement, “Due to the nature of the investigations, no other details will be released at this time. We will provide updates as they become available.”

WVU placed Lambda Chi Alpha on interim suspension on Oct. 9 following anonymous allegations of hazing.

Videos of the police action were widely circulated on social media Monday night. One video shows two officers exiting one of the frat houses with what looks like evidence bags including cell phones as students who had gathered around the house can be heard reacting.
