I-64 westbound on-ramp at Lee Street in Charleston closed because of diesel spill

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A diesel spill has closed the Interstate-64 westbound Lee Street on-ramp in the Capital City.

Charleston police said the ramp and nearby shoulder will remain closed throughout the afternoon. Cleanup work is expected to take between four and eight hours. The on-ramp is located just before the Eugene A. Carter Memorial Bridge.

“There is a chance this can impact the evening commute,” Charleston police warned.

While the Lee Street on-ramp is closed, police said that drivers should get onto the interstate at the Virginia Street entrance ramp.

Police said they’ll provide more updates as cleanup work continues.
