Balanced scoring lifts Marshall over North Texas

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Aleksa Nikolic’s 15 points led six double-figure scorers and Marshall rode a late run to down North Texas 80-73 on Saturday night before a Henderson Center crowd of 5,276.

JP Kambola had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Herd (8-16, 4-7 Conference USA), which trailed 64-63 before a late 10-2 run featured consecutive 3-pointers by Kambola.

Jay Johnson added 14 and Justin Edmonds scored 13 for Marshall, which overcame 13-of-28 foul shooting. Ryan Taylor added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Jordan Williams scored 23 for North Texas (9-13, 3-7), while Colin Voss added 17.

Having won four of five, Marshall is off until next Saturday when it hosts Western Kentucky.
