Big 12 honors West Virginia’s Staten following clutch week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Juwan Staten’s heroic final sequence against Kansas and his 22-point performance at Oklahoma State earned the point guard Big 12 player of the week honors Monday.

Staten averaged 21 points and 5.5 assists as West Virginia upset Kansas 62-61 and defeated Oklahoma State 73-63, improving to 21-6 overall and 9-5 in the conference. The senior also shot 60 percent from 3-point range.

Staten previously won the weekly honor on Dec. 22.

The Mountaineers host Texas on Tuesday night.
