Deputy injured in Charleston collision

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County deputy was hospitalized for a few hours Wednesday after his cruiser was struck at an intersection in Charleston.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue. Investigators said a pickup truck ran a red light on West Washington Street and struck the cruiser in the side. The deputy was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was discharged a few hours later.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. Charleston police are investigating.
