KINGWOOD, W.Va. — A Preston County man was convicted by a 12-member jury Thursday morning in the 2012 shooting death of his girlfriend.
The panel found Denny Ervin, 50, of Masontown, guilty of first-degree murder without mercy and wanton endangerment.
Ervin killed Leslie Layman on May 8, 2012, outside of home in Independence. Ervin claimed self-defense.
Preston County Prosecutor Mel Snyder said the murder represented the most extreme type of domestic violence.
ErvinĀ faces life in prison with no chance for parole at his May 30 sentencing in Kingwood.
