Shootout with police in Nitro kills suspect

NITRO, W.Va. — A policeman shot and killed a domestic violence suspect Saturday night after the man opened fire on the officer.

The shooting happened near the boat docks after the suspect fled the scene of the alleged incident.

Police Chief Brian Oxley told WSAZ-TV that the suspect shot at the officer after he left his cruiser. The officer fired back and hit the suspect, killing him.
