More than 30 workers laid off at Carter Machinery’s Princeton location

PRINCETON, W.Va. — More than 30 workers at Carter Machinery employees were laid off Thursday afternoon.

Employees will have the option to be laid off with severance pay, or transfer if their position was open in another Carter location.

The company cited the downturn in the coal industry as the reason for the layoffs.

Carter has 21 locations throughout southern West Virginia and Virginia.
