Second trial delayed for W.Va. pharmacist accused of improperly dispensing drugs

MARTINSBURG, W.Va — A Martinsburg pharmacist charged in connection with improperly dispensing medications to customers heads to trial for the second time Oct. 4.

David Wasanyi, 47, faces 92 counts of improperly dispensing prescription drugs in Berkeley County Circuit Court.

The trial had been set to begin June 14, but a judge reset the trial Monday to give a public defender more time to prepare for the case.

The Herald Mail reports Wasanyi is set to be sentenced June 27 after being convicted during a separate trial in April.

A separate case also is pending against Wasanyi in Jefferson County Circuit Court on 30 counts of conspiracy and one count of Medicaid fraud.
