NLRB to take testimony Monday in Greenbrier County

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — The National Labor Relations Board will conduct a public hearing Monday in Lewisburg on alleged labor violations at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte.

The allegations are being brought by registered nurses who are members of National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United.

According to the labor group, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center’s parent company, Community Health Systems, has committed unfair labor practices to weaken the union.

A hearing on alleged similar conduct at another CHS hospital, the Bluefield Medical Center, took place in August.

Community Health Systems is standing against the accusations, company spokesperson Tomi Galin told MetroNews.

“We disagree with the National Labor Relations Board’s General Counsel and are vigorously contesting the allegations through the appropriate forums,” Galin said.

Monday’s public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Lewisburg.
