MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The former Greek Life director at WVU, hired in October 2015, had been arrested prior to his abrupt resignation last month.
According to a criminal docket from Pennsylvania magistrate court, Roy Baker, 63, was arrested on Sept. 4 by a McKeesport police officer in Allegheny County, Pa.

He was arraigned at approximately 2 a.m. on two separate charge, court documents show.
Baker was accused of a prostitution-related charge. The Pennsylvania State Code says “a person is guilty of prostitution if he or she is an inmate of a house of prostitution or otherwise engages in sexual activity as a business”.
That charge was withdrawn.
But, Oct. 24, Baker pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct or creating “a hazardous or physically offensive condition by an act which serves no legitimate purpose of the actor.”
Baker paid a $454.50 fine.
Baker resigned from WVU Nov. 7. At the time, university officials called it a basic and simple resignation.
Baker’s role described in his WVU hiring announcement was to “serve as a mentor to and advocate for the Greek community to bring about transformative change in the way Greek life is viewed and functions.” He formerly worked at Penn State asĀ associate director of fraternity and sorority life.
Baker had been hired to work under the direction of Dr. Bill Schafer, WVU vice president of Student Life. Schafer and Baker were hired when WVU was promoting a change of culture on campus following the death of a fraternity pledge.
Schafer recently announced he will leave the university Jan. 2, 2017 to pursue other professional opportunities.
