MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A judge denied a Monongalia County man facing 20 years in prison for second degree murder a reconsideration of his sentence.
Jason Boyd, 24, was sentenced to 20 years in prison last November following the January 2015 shooting death of 43-year-old Luther Hill.
Boyd was convicted of firing shots at a vehicle that included Hill, his son Dusty Doman, and third man Chris Young in the vehicle outside of Solomon’s Village off Dorsey Avenue.
Judge Philip Gaujot rejected Boyd’s request to serve his sentence at the Anthony Center, a residence for youthful offenders.
The motion for reconsideration was filed in June.
Additionally, Boyd is serving a concurrent two-year sentence for malicious assault and a one year sentence for wanton endangerment. He is parole-eligible in ten years.
