Teddy Allen tweets he’s transferring to Wichita State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former West Virginia small forward Teddy Allen announced Tuesday night he plans to transfer to Wichita State.

“I have committed to Coach Marshall and Wichita State University,” Allen tweeted while visiting the Shockers facilities. “I want to thank everyone who’s supported me throughout this process and my freshman year. Can’t wait to get to work in Wichita ! All the glory to my Lord and Savior!”

After a freshman season in which he averaged 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds while playing 12 minutes per game, the 6-foot-5 Allen was granted his release from West Virginia on May 3. A school source said the release came with the standard condition of prohibiting Allen from transferring to another Big 12 programs.

West Virginia and Wichita State were both sent to San Diego for the NCAA tournament in March and faced a potential 4-5 game in the second round before Marshall upset the Shockers.

Barring an NCAA waiver, Allen must sit out next season before becoming eligible in 2019-20.
