BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A Maryland man will spend the next year on probation after pleading guilty this week in connection with a voter fraud investigation.

Secretary of State Mac Warner said Jeffrey Hartman, 73, of Westminster, Maryland, pleaded guilty to voting illegally in Morgan County.

An investigator with the Secretary of State’s Office discovered Hartman was registered to vote in both Maryland and West Virginia and that he had voted nine times in both states since 2006.

A Morgan County magistrate sentenced Hartman to 30 days in jail. The sentence was suspended for one year probation plus a $100 fine and court costs.
