MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Cornerback Jordan Adams is the latest West Virginia football player to announce that he will be finishing his football career elsewhere.
Adams, a fifth-year senior who has already earned his degree from WVU, said that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal to play his final collegiate season elsewhere. He will be eligible to play immediately.

The move figures to enhance Adams’ chances of playing time as he faced an uphill battle at West Virginia barring major injuries. The trio of fellow seniors Josh Norwood, Hakeem Bailey and Keith Washington were already ahead of Adams on the depth chart, and junior college transfer Dreshun Miller could have leapfrogged him in August training camp as well.
Freshmen Nicktroy Fortune and Tavian Mayo are joining the program before the season, so the Mountaineers will have enough bodies to offset Adams’ departure.
Adams originally signed to play at WVU along with twin brother Jacquez, who transferred out of the program to Arizona Western Junior College after the 2017 season.
Jordan Adams recorded seven tackles, including one for loss, in his 13 career appearances in three seasons.
Adams is the third West Virginia player to enter the transfer portal since the end of spring practice, joining wide receivers Marcus Simms and Dillon Spalding in leaving the program.
