Alabama cancels State Fair appearance; Jamey Johnson will instead perform

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Country group Alabama will not perform at the State Fair of West Virginia this Friday as lead singer Randy Owen continues treatment for “cluster migraines and vertigo.”

The group was scheduled to perform Friday at the State Fair, as well as Saturday in New Jersey. The band is in the middle of its 50th anniversary tour.

The State Fair posted on Instagram refunds will be issued immediately for credit cards and between seven and 10 days for cash or check payments.

“Refunds will only be issued to tickets purchased from ETIX and the State Fair of West Virginia,” it added.

Jamey Johnson will instead perform Friday. Johnson has been recognized by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association for his songwriting and solo work.

Johnson, an Alabama native, also cut a cover of the band Alabama’s 1980 song “My Home’s in Alabama ” for a 2013 tribute album

Tickets are on sale for $25 for the track standing room and $30 for reserved box seats. Friday’s concert is scheduled for 8 p.m.
