Pilot dead in Taylor County plane crash

MARION COUNTY, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Police said one person died in a small plane crash Monday near the Marion County-Taylor County line.

The plane went down near Delaney Lane in Taylor County around 1 p.m. The crash location is close to state Route 310 and Valley Falls State Park.

Officials said the pilot was flying from Indiana to Massachusetts. The person stopped in Bridgeport for fuel before the crash.

State police along with other police agencies and the Grafton Fire Department were at the scene. There was no immediate word of other injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been contacted.
