CHARLESTON, W.Va. — CAMC President Dave Ramsey expressed frustration with the federal and state governments in the battle against the coronavirus in a video posted Friday night.
Ramsey said he feels like hospitals have in large part been abandoned by the governments especially in the area of personal protective equipment for health care workers treating coronavirus patients.
Ramsey said his hospital began to order masks and other items months ago but don’t have enough.
”They (the government) keep telling us it’s coming,” Ramsey said.
He expressed his frustration in separate phone calls Friday with U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito.
Gov. Jim Justice announced Friday the state was due to receive masks and other supplies in shipments next Tuesday and Thursday. Justice said some of the masks would go to first responders.
CAMC reported its first positive coronavirus case Friday, the eighth in the state. The woman remains hospitalized. The hospital has more than 150 samples pending.
Ramsey praised CAMC workers for their preparation and care.
