19 new coronavirus cases confirmed; total number increases to 39

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Nineteen new coronavirus cases in West Virginia have come back positive, the state Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday evening.

The new cases were identified in Berkeley, Harrison, Jackson, Monongalia, Preston and Wood counties. The number of positive cases in West Virginia increased from 20 to 39 between Monday and Tuesday.

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department announced Tuesday six confirmed cases in the county, although the state department notes only four confirmed cases in its total.

Monongalia County has the most confirmed cases with 16.

According to the state Department of Health and Human Resources, 798 people have received tests and 759 tests have come back negative. The results of six lab tests are pending at the state lab.
