RAWL, W.Va. — A mother and child are dead after a crash in Mingo County.
Keyonna Norman, 24, and Kingston Norman, 9, died when their vehicle crashed on state Route 49. The two were traveling north towards Williamson and crossed the southbound lane before going over a 75-foot hillside. The vehicle landed on nearby railroad tracks.
According to Mingo County Sheriff’s Chief Field Deputy Allen Mounts, the vehicle was found by a Norfolk Southern Railroad detective at around 9 a.m. Wednesday. The crash could’ve occurred between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Mounts also reports that both victims were not wearing seatbelts. Keyonna Norman was ejected from the vehicle once it left the roadway, and Kingston Norman was still in the vehicle when the detective found it.
The crash is under investigation.
