WVIAC Baseball Tournament Begins

It’s playoff time in the West Virginia Conference and the usual suspects top the list of favorites.

The WVIAC Baseball Tournament begins May 12 at Laura K. Epling Stadium. The tournament is in a round-robin pool-play format for the first three days with the championship being played May 15 at 1 p.m.

Hard hitting Seton Hill (33-10, 26-3 WVIAC) and West Virginia State (23-16, 21-9) are the top seeds.

Seton Hill grabbed the top spot of the North Division while Pitt Johnstown, Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty earned the second, third and fourth spots, respectively.

West Virginia State garnered the No. 1 seed in the South while Davis & Elkins (second), West Virginia Wesleyan (third) and Concord (fourth) round out the field.

Pool 1 consists of Seton Hill, Davis & Elkins, Wheeling Jesuit and Concord. Pool 2 fields West Virginia State, Pitt Johnstown, West Virginia Wesleyan and West Liberty.

The WVIAC Tournament Network will provide live audio broadcasts of every game on Saturday, May 14 and the championship game on Sunday, May 15. Game times on May 14 are 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 8 p.m. On May 15, the championship game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.  Kyle Cooper will be calling the play-by-play of the WVIAC Baseball Tournament.

Games get underway at 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
