Starks Hopes for All-Star Votes

West Virginia Bass Angler Jeremy Starks is headed to the biggest event in fishing.  Starks will fish the Bassmaster Classic in Oklahoma in February.    He earned his spot in what’s often billed as the "Superbowl of Bass Fishing" with a first place finish in the Lake Douglas Challenge in Tennessee earlier this year.

Along the way, Starks is hoping his fellow West Virginians will give him a boost to fish one more very special event.

"I would LOVE to be picked to fish the All-Star Tournament," said Starks. "It would mean a whole lot to me to represent the state of West Virginia at that event, but it’s up to the fans."

The competition features 12-anglers.   The first eight slots are made up of the top eight finishers in the Bass Angler of the Year standings for 2012.    The last four slots are selected by an online poll of fans.

Fans can cast their votes by going to the Bassmaster Website and register.  A link is located at the top of this page. The rules allow all individuals to vote once a day for ten-days.    The event is September 20-23 in Decatur, Illinois.   A semi-final fishing event will be staged on Lake Shelbyville and the final on Lake Decatur

"I really appreciate all of the support people in West Virginia have given me since I’ve started fishing the Elite Series," Starks said. "This is a lot like the All-Star Game in Major League Baseball, just a real honor."
