A former security director for Massey Energy has lost his appeal and faces three years in federal prison.
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals announced Friday it had upheld the conviction of Hughie Stover.
A federal jury convicted Stover in Oct. 2011 for lying to investigators during the probe that followed the 2010 explosion at the Upper Big Branch mine that killed 29 miners.
