Classes disrupted by threats

There were a few social media boosted school scares Thursday in West Virginia.

Four schools in Mercer County were briefly placed on lockdown after a threat of violence that began at Montcalm High School.

State Police and sheriff’s deputies scanned students when they entered the school and checked vehicles and found nothing. After clearing Montcalm, additional information surfaced saying the threat was also at Princeton High School, Princeton Middle School and the county’s Technical Education Center.

Those schools were also checked and cleared.

A second situation was in Logan County where a student at Chapmanville High School allegedly made some threats. He was suspended from school.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has called for a moment of silence Friday morning at 9:30 to remember the 26 victims in the Sandy Hook school massacre. The governor has asked churches to ring their bells 26 times.
