Fire doesn’t impact power plant operations

The Mountaineer Power Plant in Mason County is operating despite a fire there Wednesday evening.

The blaze began in a fiberglass storage tank at the New Haven facility.

A spokesperson for Appalachian Power says the fire did not impact the plant’s operations. The 75-foot tank is in an unused part of the plant, which used to be the carbon capture project.

The tank was empty. There were no injuries.
