Meteorologists with the National Weather Service are calling for a mild weekend in West Virginia while residents in New England are dealing with a full scale blizzard.
Up to three feet of snow was in the forecast for Boston, Massachusetts by Sunday and two foot snow drifts were reported from New Jersey to Maine. Heavy snow was falling in a lot of the same areas where Hurricane Sandy dealt a heavy blow last fall.
At least two deaths were blamed on the storm.
In some parts of New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut, wind gusts of more than 80 miles per hour were reported on Friday night into Saturday morning.
At one point on Saturday, more than 640,000 homes and businesses in those areas and others did not have power.
The blizzard was the result of two storm systems that collided north of West Virginia.
Preston County and Tucker County were under a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service to start the weekend. A High Wind Advisory was also in effect for the Eastern Panhandle counties.
Those advisories were lifted on Saturday morning.
High temperatures on Sunday were expected to approach 60 degrees in parts of the Mountain State.
