BALTIMORE, MD — A West Virginia man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Maryland in connection with a crime spree in Baltimore and Washington County, Maryland.
The US Attorney’s Office in Maryland reports Jordon Redfern, 30, of Martinsburg, was indicted on multiple charges in connection with robbing banks in Maryland as well as a carjacking that happened off Shepherdstown Pike.
In that incident in early June, police in Berkeley County say a man, woman, and a young child were forced out of a car under threat.
A family putting air in a tire at a Roc’s gas station off Shepherdstown Road were ordered away from their car at gunpoint.
The suspect drove the vehicle to Maryland and abandoned it, according to Berkeley County Sheriff Rob Blair.
Redfern than reportedly carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint.
Police in Maryland began a pursuit which they backed off from out of concern for public safety.
According to the four-count indictment, on May 29, 2026, Redfern robbed a Windsor Mill, Maryland bank, taking approximately $6,300 in cash. Two days later, on May 31, Redfern allegedly carjacked a luxury vehicle in Washington County, Maryland. Then on June 1, Redfern allegedly attempted to commit an armed robbery of a bank in Baltimore, and then later committed an armed robbery of a second bank in Baltimore, stealing approximately $41,590 in cash.
If convicted, Redfern faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for armed bank robbery and a maximum of 15 years for carjacking. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge determines sentencing after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Federal prosecutors commended the FBI and police agencies in Maryland and West Virginia for their roles in the investigation.
