Windmill Park murder suspect in court

Both men indicted for the three Windmill Park murders in Fairmont will be arraigned this week.

Eddie Washington, 59, is set to be before Judge Michael Aloi at 2:15 p.m. Monday in Marion County Court.  Phillip Reese Bush will be arraigned Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Police say the men acted together in the triple murders from back in 1974.  According to a criminal complaint, Fairmont residents Guy Lester Phillips, 20, his wife, Wanda Jane Phillips, 19, and Billy Ray Cobb, 27 were shot execution style.

Washington was brought back to West Viriginia after being arrested in Florida on three counts of first-degree murder.  Bush was later named in a criminal complaint and arrested.

A Marion County Grand Jury indicted Bush and Washington last month.

Police in several states assisted with the investigation.  New information surfaced in Sept. 2012, leading to a revival in the investigation and Washington’s arrest.

The criminal complaint says information about Bush and Washington’s actions is based on “witness statements as well as Washington’s post Miranda admissions.”

Police have not discussed the possible motive behind the crimes.
