Fire death in Jefferson County

A woman is dead after a house fire early Monday morning in Jefferson County.

Emergency dispatchers say the fire was reported at 1:30 am at 75 Packett Drive near Summit Point Road outside of Charles Town.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office says the victim was a 65-year-old woman. Her name has not been released.

It’s the second fire death in the state in as many days. The Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing its investigation into a Sunday morning blaze that killed a Boone County teenager.

Rocky Steele, 18, was reportedly heading back into his burning home in Orgas to save some pets. He died at the scene.
