West Virginia University released a statement Tuesday afternoon in connection with its request of the state Attorney General’s Office last week to review its request for proposals for its Tier 3 media rights for WVU athletics.
The university’s brief statement outlined its request:
“As previously reported, the Attorney General’s Office is providing legal advice and assistance to West Virginia University in its review of the Athletic Department’s Tier 3 Media Rights process. The scope of the review includes all issues surrounding the media rights RFP and related athletics issues that are currently the subject of numerous requests, letters and related news media reports. As previously stated, during this review process WVU will have no additional comment.”
Morgantown businessman John Raese has raised several issues in connection with the process including the relationship between WVU Board of Governors Chairman Drew Payne, Tier 3 bidder IMG College and West Virginia Media Holdings.
