HILLSBORO, OR– Aaron Blair’s first outing as a professional was short but efficient. Blair made his first start for the Hillsboro Hops, the short season Class-A affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Friday night.
Blair pitched two scoreless innings in his debut, gave up a hit, walked one and struck out two.
The 6-foot-5 right-hander ran his fastball up to 95 mph and mixed in a good variety of much slower breaking balls, something Herd fans grew accustomed to seeing. According to OregonLive.com, Blair struck out the final batter he faced looking when he rolled in a curveball at 75 mph.
Blair was 36th overall pick in the 2013 Draft.
Hillsboro ended up winning the game 5-4 in 10 innings.
